Home Programme Speakers Background reading Press file Round table discussion Link Gallery Contacts	Background reading The conference “Women and Human Rights”, as well as being a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the launch of a new research project on Dominican women and their work for social justice, is also the last activity in a year of events for promoting the book Preaching Justice: Dominican Contributions to Social Ethics in the Twentieth Century. This book covers the seminal work of over 30 Dominican men, mostly Dominican priests, but also some lay Dominicans, throughout the world and across the 20th century. Prof Janne Matláry has written the book “When Might Becomes Right”, (Leominster, Gracewing, 2007), which deals with the issue that she will be addressing in her talk at the conference, the danger of relativism for human rights. See the opening pages of this book, including the preface, and order the book from Gracewing.
