Bertrand Julian De Clercq op, of the Flemish Dominican province, was elected Provincial after retiring from his academic post. He taught social and political ethics at the Faculties of Social Sciences and Theology of K.U. Leuven (Catholic University of Louvain), and has been a visiting professor at universities in the USA and Indonesia.
